Making Small Batch Ice Cream and Baked Goods by Hand, with Love
Oh the wonder of ice cream! And salted caramel sauce…and cookies…and brownies…and pies. Bi-Rite Creamery was started by two bakers who wanted to bring San Francisco perfectly balanced, delectably delicious treats in a responsible, sustainable way. Their goal was to make you happy.
So then and now, they develop intensely flavored ice cream recipes that feature locally-sourced ingredients, often highlighting the season’s tastiest fruits like Masumoto Peaches, and handmade inclusions such as the snickerdoodles for Ricanelas and the chocolate cookies in the Cookies and Cream.
In June 2019, after a seismic retrofit and renovation, Bi-Rite Creamery reopened with a new design that opens up the interior to the hustle and bustle of 18th Street. The team also introduced delicious new products including three new vegan flavors, Soft Serve Stuffed Donuts, and park-friendly ice cream bars!

Ice Cream That You Crave
The secret to our incredibly delicious, rich, creamy soft serve is that it’s made with Double 8 Dairy buffalo milk. The higher butter fat content makes the ice cream an incredible base for our flavors.
Exclusively at Bi-Rite Creamery on 18th Street you can now enjoy that soft serve stuffed in a Mr. Holmes Bakehouse brioche donut served with a delicious dipping sauce!
And exclusively at Bi-Rite Cafe at Civic Center Plaza, soft serve is amazing in a sundae or as an affogato!
Chocolate from
Guittard Chocolate Company
With a rich history of more than 150 years, Guittard Chocolate is a San Francisco institution we’re thrilled to partner with. Both locally and globally, their focus is on ‘cultivating better’ — sustainably sourcing and selecting the finest cocoa resulting in delicious, complex, flavorful chocolate that beautifully complement our recipes. As Guittard’s fifth generation continues the commitment to this promise, they remain focused on quality, craft, collaboration, and community.
Brioche Donuts from
Mr. Holmes Bakehouse
The energetic commitment of Mr. Holmes Bakehouse’s ultra-talented team to passionately craft creative, delicious pastries speaks to us. And their brioche donuts, made with Isigny Sainte-Mère butter, stuffed with our soft serve ice cream makes us giddy.
Coffee from
Ritual Coffee Roasters
When Eileen Rinaldi started Ritual Coffee in our Mission neighborhood in 2005, she started a movement: to remove the anonymity of their coffee growers and celebrate their attention to quality and craft. Which is one of the reasons why the dynamic, complex Ritual Sweet Tooth single origin espresso has exclusively been featured in our Coffee Toffee ice cream since the beginning.
Soft Serve with
Double 8 Dairy
One of only two water buffalo dairies in California, Double 8, located in Petaluma, is committed to sustainable, innovative dairy farming practices. With a herd that hovers around 50 milking buffalo, they produce about 40 to 45 gallons of milk a day.
Ice Cream with
Straus Family Creamery
Since the beginning, we’ve used Straus Family Creamery’s organic milk, cream, and eggs in our ice cream. Located only 45 miles away, the creamery was the first 100% certified organic creamery in the United States. They’re on a mission to help sustain family farms in Marin and Sonoma Counties by providing high-quality, minimally processed organic dairy products that are incredibly delicious and full flavored. And Albert Straus, Founder/CEO and Organic Dairy Farmer, is combating climate change by using the world’s first full-scale electric feed truck, powered by cow manure on the Straus Dairy Farm
